Born in Fayetteville, raised in Memphis and now living in Los Angeles, Lanita Smith who grew up singing in the family church, went from performing locally to being featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live in under 3 years!
A songwriter, musician and singer, Lanita was handpicked by Don Was as the winner of Guitar Center's Singer Songwriter 4. She has since worked with many award-winning artists and producers, such as Colbie Caillat, Jessica Sanchez, German American Idol judge Mandy Capistro and Teddy Riley to name a few. Lanita also co-founded Little Monarch with Casey Kalmenson, whose current single, No Matter What has reached 5 million streams on Spotify in just 3 months!
Since the release of her debut EP Listen to Your Heartbeat, produced by Don Was, she has also performed at Coachella, Jackson’s R&B Festival, The Troubadour, Hotel Cafe, NAMM, and more.
In 2016, Lanita was accepted into the Los Angeles Chapter of the Recording Academy and the 2016 Grammy Next Program. Lanita latest single “Love Can Do” is a prelude to her upcoming album entitled Remember Me, set to release late summer 2017.
